Since 1904, we have lived and cultivated wine in Valle valley. All four generation of Kozlović family have the same goal: to preserve native sorts, to advance in knowledge and technology when it comes to vineyard and cellar, and to guarantee the quality of wine with the family name.

VALE VALLEY, THE PLACE WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Antionio and Maria, the first generation Kozlović family, from Rožmarije village move to valley Vale. They buy 1 ha of vineyards and build a small house with a size of 35m2.

Kozlović Winery - Marcela and Pietro

SECOND GENERATION INHERIT THE BUSINESS

Second generation, Pietro and Marcela, inherit the family business. They expanded the vineyard in the Vale valley to 2 ha.

THIRD GENERATION INHERIT THE BUSINESS

Third generation, Armando and Edvige, remodeled the family home and expanded the vineyards even more to an area of 4.5 ha. Along with wines from indigenous varieties of Malvazija Istriana, Teran and Muscat Momiano, they have started to produce a spirit from Muscat grapes (local name “rakija”).

FIRST BOTTLE IS RELEASED ON THE MARKET

The first bottle of Kozlović Malvazija with  its characteristic label, a drawing of two friends saluting life, inspired by an old family photo, is released on the market.

GIANFRANCO I ANTONELLA KOZLOVIĆ – FOURTH GENERATION

At the national competition Vinovita, Malvazija of Gianfranco Kozlović, from the 1997 harvest has been declared the best white wine in Croatia. Consequently, Gianfranco and Antonella, a fourth generation, inherit the business.

Kozlović winery - first professional wine cellar in Istria

FIRST PROFESSIONAL WINE CELLAR IN ISTRIA

The cellar has 450 m2 and it is equipped with the most advanced technology of today. It is the first professional wine cellar in Istria.

EXPANSION OF VINEYARDS

Family leases additional 20 ha of the prime vineyard site at Santa Lucia location in the vicinity of Buje, one of the most prized vine sites in Croatia, on which plots of Malvazija vines dating back to 1961.

VINEYARD SANTA LUCIA & VINEYARD VALE

Gianfranco and Antonella buy an additional 20 ha of vineyards that bring the total of family plots to 30 ha. In the Santa Lucia single vineyard they cultivate Malvazija, and in the valley of Vale Muscat Momiano, Teran and Malvazija.

THE LIBRARY COLLECTION

At “The Library Collection” competition Santa Lucia Malvazija 2001 won the title of best white wine in the world.

Kozlović winery - 2012 - Grand opening of the new winery and wine cellar

GRAND OPENING OF THE NEW WINERY AND WINE CELLAR

New cellar with a winery had been built spanning 2200 m2 on three floors. Winery has at its disposal an elegant venue and wine bar for wine tasting, along with outdoor areas with views of the property, Vale valley and vineyards.

SANTA LUCIA NOIR 2008 – IWC REGIONAL TROPHY

Santa Lucia Malvazija 2008 won a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge and received the title of “Regional Trophy”.
